Suns must win to force decisive Game 7

MILWAUKEE – The Phoenix Suns didn’t reach the NBA Finals on a whim.

With tough defense, share-ball offense and two closers, they posted the league’s second-best record and eliminated three playoff teams from a year ago with the first being the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

The second-seeded Suns didn’t build a 2-0 series lead in the finals by accident.

Devin Booker and Chris Paul delivered, the remaining cast contributed, and they withstood a 42-point barrage by Giannis Antetokounmpo in Game 2 to take early command of this best-of-7 series.

Things haven’t been the same since.

They’ve lost three in a row for only the second time this season, but are just one victory away from forcing a decisive Game 7 in Phoenix, where a sellout crowd of 16,000-plus at Footprint Center will be locked in and loaded to cheer them to the franchise’s first ever NBA championship.
