Telegraph Fire update; firefighters continue to strengthen lines with additional burnout operations

FOR CURRENT EVACUATION INFORMATION, residents are advised to monitor Facebook pages for Pinal County Sheriff’s Office: https://www.facebook.com/PinalCountySO  and Gila County Health and Emergency Management: https://www.facebook.com/gilacohealthem  Notifications can change rapidly. Residents in areas affected by the fire should remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate. Evacuation notifications are issued when danger is imminent and life threatening. 

Overnight, crews completed a burn out operation to secure complete protection of the Top-of-The-World community.  Today firefighters will deepen and strengthen the containment line with additional burnouts.  The burn out along Forest Road 651 is complete up to Sulphide Del Ray campground.   Crews will patrol and hold this containment line today.  

Crews will be working in the area of Government Springs Road in an effort to keep fire from spreading east. Structure protection forces will patrol and hold containment lines around recreation cabins near Pinal and Signal Peaks, with the assistance of aircraft. Dozers, masticators, and hand crews are preparing contingency line along Pioneer Pass Road.  Firefighters continue to scout a network of old roads and trails from Tuxedo Junction to AZ SR 77 for possible construction of a contingency line.
