Telegraph Fire update; fire crews continue to work to secure the fire

FOR CURRENT EVACUATION INFORMATION, residents are advised to monitor Facebook pages for Pinal County Sheriff’s Office:  and Gila County Health and Emergency Management:  Notifications can change rapidly. Residents in areas affected by the fire should remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate. Evacuation notifications are issued when danger is imminent and life threatening.  

Fire crews continue to work to secure the fire perimeter near Top-Of-The-World community where the fire is difficult to contain. Firefighters worked in the area of Government Springs Road to keep fire from spreading east. Fire crews continued suppression activities which began two days ago around values at risk near Pinal and Signal Peaks, with assistance from aircraft. Crews patrolled and held the containment line along Forest Road 651. Dozers, masticators, and hand crews made progress preparing contingency line along Pioneer Pass Road. Firefighters continue to scout a network of old roads and trails from Tuxedo Junction to AZ SR 77 for possible construction of a contingency line.

Evacuation status for the town of Superior and the area of Battle Axe has been returned to “Ready.”  

Evacuation status for the town of Miami has been returned to “Set.” 

The Arizona Department of Transportation has reopened State Routes 77 and 177. 

The Tonto National Forest has initiated Stage 2 Fire Restrictions for the entire forest, effective 8 a.m. on June 11. 

All State Land will be under Stage 2 restrictions effective 8:00 AM on June 11.
